Image Compressor โ FAQs
Is this image compressor free?
Yes, completely free with no signup and no usage limits. You can compress as many JPG, PNG or WebP images as you like. Everything happens inside your own browser, so there are no queues, no watermarks and no hidden charges of any kind.
Will compression reduce my image quality?
Lowering the quality slider shrinks the file by discarding fine detail, so very low values can look blurry or blocky. Start around 80 percent, which usually cuts the size dramatically while keeping the photo sharp. Check the preview and adjust the slider until you are happy with the result.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The tool reads your file locally with the FileReader API and compresses it on a canvas inside your browser. Your images never leave your device, never touch our servers and are never stored anywhere. You can even use this page offline once it has loaded.
Why does the quality slider barely affect PNG files?
PNG is a lossless format, so its size hardly changes with a quality value. Photos without transparency are converted to JPEG here, which shrinks them far more. If your PNG needs transparency, keep it as PNG and accept the larger file, or use the format converter instead.
